The Bottle is the default melee weapon for the Demoman. It is a brown glass bottle of scrumpy marked with 'XXX'. The label suggests the scrumpy was made in 1808.
Whilst the weapon works similar to most melee types, if a Critical hit is achieved when striking a surface or player, the Bottle's lower half shatters and will remain so until the player is killed. Despite this, the broken Bottle deals no more or less damage than it did prior to being whole.

Trivia
- The Bottle has a normal weapon variant.
- Scrumpy is a type of strong English cider. Liquor is usually stored in dark-colored bottles to reflect sunlight and heat.
- Dropped bottles still supply Engineers with the standard 100 metal, despite being made of glass.
- The Demoman takes a drink during the taunt, even if the Bottle has been smashed. In humiliation, the Bottle disappears, but the Demoman still goes through the actions.
- The Bottle must be empty, as the Demoman holds it upside down with no cork, but the taunt sounds suggest otherwise.
- The Bottle is the only weapon that has two different models (whole and smashed).
- The XXX logo can also be seen on the Scout's Whoopee Cap.
- The bucket icons for the Bottle are team-specific, showing that there were RED and BLU versions of the Bottle.
- In Demoman's animation files, there is an unused animation for a Bottle taunt kill, where Demoman throws the Bottle into the air, catches it, offers a drink, then smashes the Bottle into the face of the victim.[1]
- Even if broken, the dropped bottle will still be intact.
