The Mecha Update is a major update for Team Fortress 2 released on December 20th, 2012.
Timeline
The update was announced on December 19, 2012. It announced the addition of the final class in Mann vs. Machine, the Mecha-Engineer, as well as the map Big Rock. It further included the comic Shadow Boxers, announced the addition of the Rescue Ranger, Loose Cannon, and the Vaccinator, new weapons for the Engineer, Demoman and Medic, respectively. The update also announced the return of Nice and Naughty Winter Crates. The "Season's Greetings" image also hints the addition of new Festive weapons.

Trivia
- The preview page of the Mecha Update is directly based off the movie poster of the Japanese, sci-fi kaiju film, "Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II".
- The Strips of paper with numbers and blocks on the page are formatted as a punch card. When decoded, it reveals the message, "UPDATE IMMINENT DECEMBER 20 2012"
- The middle screen of the Mecha-Engineer which says, "Hats, all your ha" is a reference to the videogame Template:W.
