Basic Strategy

The first wave features several Giant Soldiers with Über Medics and isolated crit-boosted robots. Be sure to buy Crit resistance during the preparation time. Sentry Guns are immune to critical hits and can soak up incoming fire.

What separates Broken Parts from other Advanced missions is its second wave, almost equivalent in difficulty to Expert waves. Simultaneously, the team must face a 40,000-HP Tank, several Super Scouts and a Giant Medic healing a Giant Deflector Heavy with only 2900 credits at most. Before the wave, elaborate a plan and split the team to take care of all threats at once. Have at least one burst damage class (Scout, Soldier, Demoman, Sniper, Spy) finishing off the Giant Medic; a Spy can actually destroy the Giant Medic alone with maximum Armor Penetration upgrades. Likewise, a Pyro with the Phlogistinator can make the Tank's destruction infinitely easier. The Engineer must place his Sentry in a way that it halts the Giant Scouts' progress. Beware of the burst of Super Scouts at the end of the wave!

The fourth wave is similar to Caliginous Caper's 7th part with lots of Spies, but this time accompanied with crit-boosted Scouts. The Über Medics healing the Giant Heavies have ÜberCharges lasting about 2.5 times longer than usual "Quick Über" Medic robots (12 seconds instead of 5): a good Medic picker is mandatory to complete this wave.

The fifth wave sends out swarms of Steel Gauntlets alternating with crit-boosted Soldiers, the latter having enhanced damage output. Buy Blast resistance and/or Destroy Projectiles if you die too easily to them. It's also the one with least credits.

The sixth wave is the second real test of this mission. It begins like Caliginous Caper's final part with, this time, all kinds of crit-boosted robots. All resistances must be fully upgraded at this point. Like the second wave, the next part features Tanks, Super Scouts and crit-boosted Giant Deflector Heavies with Giant Medics. Once again, split the team into a group of Tank killers and a group of Giant killers. Bodyblock and/or slow down the Super Scouts to ease their elimination. It ends with a rush of Giant Rapid Fire Soldiers, spreading out on both paths after exiting the cave. With the very large amount of money available at this stage, containing the Giant assault shouldn't be too difficult while at least half the team try to take down one of the bulkiest Tanks in the game, with 60,000 HP.

The last wave, or boss wave, introduces Sergeant Crits, an improved version of the Giant Burst Fire Soldier, which has double damage, more rocket speed than other Burst Fires and less fire rate. Have one player playing the role of lure, either a Scout, an Engineer or a player with ÜberCharge canteens, while the others focus fire on the boss. Keep an eye on the large squads of support robots helping Sergeant Crits!

Trivia

  • Among invasion missions, Broken Parts provides the largest amount of credits to players. It is possible to collect up to 9450 credits before facing Sergeant Crits, including starting money and bonuses.
