— The Soldier fondly remembering his origins
|
” |
The Original is a promotional primary weapon for the Soldier. Styled after the weapon from Template:W, it is a bulky, tan Rocket Launcher with a metallic tubular back-end, a metallic handle and a tan handle, and a distinctive, oversized barrel.
This weapon functions like the Rocket Launcher, yet has additional cosmetic changes. As with the Rocket Launcher in Quake, the Original's first-person view model is in the bottom-center of the screen, and rockets are launched straight into the crosshair. The Soldier holds the weapon normally in third-person view.
The Original was awarded in Genuine quality to players who purchased Quake 4 on Steam before August 8, 2011 – 10AM PDT.

Bugs
- Like the Direct Hit, Black Box and the Liberty Launcher, the Soldier does not load rockets for the Original when reloading (although, by default, the front of the Original is hidden in the bottom during reloading).
- The tube of the weapon, viewed both by the player and spectators, does not contain any rockets.
- The Soldier may occasionally appear to load a fifth rocket while reloading.
- The Original clips through the Soldier's arm.
- Occasionally, when switching weapons with the Original, a "ghost" hand may appear over the side of the screen.
Unused content
- The game files contain additional remastered sounds from Quake, such as explosions, picking up items, and using chat.
Trivia
- Most of the sounds triggered by the use of this weapon were remastered from the original Quake Rocket Launcher, which were recycled from Doom.
