间谍有伪装成友方或者敌方其他兵种的能力.就像他的隐身能力一样,可以使他混在其他玩家中却不被注意到。伪装时,敌方会把间谍看做他伪装成的兵种,而从友方的视角来看,他会被看成一个戴着表示他当前伪装的面具的友方间谍。

使用伪装
游戏机版本中,伪装可以通过打开伪装工具,选择好要伪装的兵种,在按键确认来获得. (默认: - Xbox 360),在PC上, 伪装可以通过按下要伪装的兵种所对应的数字键来获得。 比如,玩家可以通过按下5来伪装成敌方机枪手.
另外,PC玩家可以通过进阶选项的“简易伪装菜单”来伪装自己. 当使用简易伪装菜单时,玩家可以按下1, 2,或3来选择兵种类别(进攻,防御,或者支援),再按下1, 2,或3选择在那个类别里的兵种。比如,玩家可以按下1选择进攻性兵种,再按下3来选择火焰兵作为他的伪装。
一般来说,玩家可以伪装成为敌方的一位成员,但他们也可以在伪装菜单中通过按下 '更改伪装团队'键(PC上默认: -,默认Xbox 360上)来伪装成友方成员。正常情况下,玩家可以通过按快捷键伪装成敌方成员.PC中,玩家可以通过按下‘上一个伪装目标’ (默认B) 来切换成他们上一个从伪装菜单中选择的目标以节省时间。
伪装工具并不是瞬间性的。选择好一个伪装后,间谍周围会产生一个带有团队色的烟云粒子效果,大概持续两秒钟,然后就会停止放出粒子并完全伪装成所选择的团队的兵种。不过在伪装前可以在一定程度上避免它;伪装选中后,烟雾粒子效果不会因为开始隐身而被隐藏;然而,如果在已经隐身之后在选择伪装则不会有烟雾或者是团队色的粒子效果。不管在哪种情况下, 伪装总会产生一点小噪音,这有点依靠玩家用的是哪个隐形手表;这声音可能会暴露间谍的位置。
如果玩家把永生的回报装备在他们的装备槽里,伪装工具将会不可用。间谍获得伪装的唯一方式就是成功地背刺一名敌方成员;非背刺刀杀或者其他武器击杀将不会触发自动伪装。一旦成功,敌人将会死于背刺,间谍就会立即获得他刚刚所背刺的目标的伪装。
取消伪装
可以在伪装菜单中通过按下q来取消伪装。
解除伪装(比如你想夺取一个控制点 - 间谍的局限性),默认没有那个键可以解除伪装,但可以在控制台设置一个快捷键来伪装成本方间谍,这就相当于解除了伪装。

游戏中的伪装
伪装中,间谍的队友会看见他戴着他正在伪装的敌方兵种的纸面具,当他们瞄准他的时候,他的血量指示器中名字下面会显示他正在伪装的团队与兵种(比如"伪装为敌方爆破手"或"伪装为友方狙击手")。敌人就不一样了,他们只能看见间谍所伪装的团队与兵种,当他们瞄准他时,他会显示出自己正在伪装的盟友或者敌人的身份。 如果被选中的队伍里有两个或以上的被选中的兵种,间谍则会随机获得他们其中一个人的身份。如果被选中的队伍里没有所选中的兵种,间谍则会获取其选中的队伍中任意一个成员的身份,不管他的兵种。当间谍获取到一个人的身份时,他会呈现出他伪装的目标的名字,血量,所装备的武器,除非间谍伪装的兵种在那个团队里没有。在这种情况下,间谍就只会有默认装备。如果被选中的兵种移动得比间谍慢,那么间谍则会相应地减慢他的移动速度,除非他正在隐身。装备影响兵种移动速度,比如苏格兰颅骨切割者将不会考虑,间谍的速度也不能上升到医生或者侦察兵那么快。
伪装成敌方时, 间谍不会因为敌方射击而流血或者受到击退,除了火焰兵的压缩气爆和侦察兵的自然之力。武器的击中特效比如吸血鬼针筒枪的,在击中时不会显现出来,就算是击杀了那名间谍也不会。然而着火, 尿瓶还有疯狂的牛奶将会正常地影响间谍。能对友方产生积极影响的武器,比如指挥官的军鞭或者十字军之弩,不会对敌方间谍发生作用并且会正常地伤害他们。
伪装中,间谍捡起补血包时会增加他的实际血量,如果他在伪装时伪装目标的血量低于满血,那么也会恢复他正在伪装中的目标的血量。这个假血量一直会正常工作,就算间谍本身的实际血量是满的。相反,一个受伤的间谍可以捡起血包,就算他正在伪装中的兵种的血量是满的。然而,这时捡血包他周围的十字图标将会是他自己的团队颜色而不是伪装的团队颜色。
伪装时的行动
当间谍伪装成敌方成员时,他将不能夺取控制点,推炸弹车或者阻止敌人做相同的事,然而,一个伪装成本方人员的间谍则可以正常地做这些事。不过,敌方的建筑会正常地攻击他,敌方的医生也不能治疗他。友方伪装只是能让你看起来像是本队里的另一名成员而已。
相反,使用敌方伪装的间谍不会成为步哨枪的目标,可以使用敌方的补给器,可以被敌方医生就像治疗他们队员一样地被治疗。传送器是唯一一个可以为伪装或者不伪装的间谍工作的建筑。
还有,下面的几个动作能让你看起来更将是一名敌方成员:
- 换武器 - 更换主武器,副武器,或者近战武器,接着按下'上一伪装'键(默认B)可以使伪装切换成相应武器槽的武器。 (比如,在伪装成侦察兵时持蝴蝶刀在这么做会让你看起来是拿着棒球棍)。如果伪装目标的装备槽里装备着解锁武器,你还是可以和他一样看起来像是持有那把武器。
- 装弹 - 如果你伪装时手持的武器可以重新装弹(比如霰弹枪, 火箭发射器, 侦察兵的霰弹枪, SMG等等),为你的左轮手枪装弹 (默认R)为让你的伪装也为其武器装弹。这在像火焰喷射器或者狙击步枪这样没有弹匣的武器上不会显现出来,而且你不能在左轮手枪6发弹药满时假装装弹。装弹将播放左轮手枪装弹的声音,无论伪装手持何种武器。
- 语音指令 - 在伪装成敌方成员时,语音指令将会发送给友方与敌方,你可以用这种方法叫敌方医生为你治疗,然而,注意你伪装的人可能会看见那段语音指令并且告诉敌方成员有间谍伪装成了他。
解除伪装
一个间谍死后,夺取敌方情报箱后,或者他用除电子工兵以外的武器进行攻击后都将会自动失去伪装。还有,间谍还可以通过手动伪装成本方间谍来解除自己的伪装。

注意
- 伪装不会改变你碰撞箱的大小,外形,或者位置,使用特定的伪装来降低被爆头的风险。
- 如果你捡起了一个补血包或者接收治疗,你的伪装的生命值也会相应地增加。这也允许你在自己没有受伤而伪装受了伤时捡起补血包。
- 你在伪装时不能嘲讽。
- 在伪装时你免疫击退效果,无论伪装的队伍是什么,当然也有些例外(比如火焰兵的压缩气爆)。
- 伪装时你还可以穿过队友但还是不能穿过敌人。
- 伪装时使用电子工兵不会解除伪装。
- 特定的兵种有些武器不能被使用(就像是电击背脊盾, 达尔文的危险之盾或者炮艇)但一个间谍可以同时拥有那件可穿戴物品与一个原配武器,这根本就不可能,对于一个细心的玩家来说,这么做等于是暴露了自己间谍的身份。比如,右图中间谍伪装成了一个同时拥有达尔文的危险之盾与SMG的狙击手,但这两个武器都是副武器。
- 伪装成火焰兵时,拿出主武器(比如: 脱油剂)会发出一点小小的声音,即使你正在隐身。当心,有经验的玩家可能会根据那一小点声音推断出附近有一个伪装成火焰兵的间谍。

Issues
- A Spy disguised as a player with weapons that grant passive effects (such as the Scotsman's Skullcutter) will not possess these passive effects (e.g. decreased movement speed ).
- If a Spy tries disguising as a player with the Huntsman or Machina, they will appear with the stock Sniper Rifle.
- Similarly, Spies disguised as a player with the Backburner will appear to be holding the stock Flame Thrower.
- Disguising as a class that the enemy team does not have may cause the disguise's displayed health to be an impossible value. For example, if the enemy team has no Scouts, and the Scout disguise decides to choose a Heavy player's name, the Scout disguise will also take on the health of the Heavy (such as 300), which is an impossible value for a Scout to have.
- A Spy disguised as a player of the enemy team may incorrectly display his actual alias to his opponents when aimed at or through the use of voice commands.
- If a Spy disguises as a Soldier, Pyro or Heavy when no one on either team is playing that class and the Spy changes his disguise weapon to a Shotgun, he will be disguised as a civilian of that class. Doing the same thing for an Engineer yields a different effect, where the Engineer holds whatever the Spy's active weapon is. [1]
- If a Spy disguises as an enemy Soldier who has the Battle Bob equipped with the "Without Helmet" style, the disguise will have a helmet on.
