"Archimedes" is a main menu startup theme. It is listed as track 15 of the 33 main menu startup themes. It was released on October 13, 2011 Patch and features many remixed portions of another Team Fortress 2 song "A Little Heart to Heart". The track has a much higher tone and a constant ambient violin and clarinet in addition to the accordion from "A Little Heart To Heart", giving the song a distinct Klezmer/Yiddish sound to it. The song has not officially appeared in any Meet the Team trailers.

Analysis

Key: Bb Minor
Time Signature: 4/4
Tempo: 74 BPM
Length: 4:05
Release Date: October 13, 2011
Update: Manniversary
Composer: Mike Morasky
Instrumentation: clarinet, accordion

"Archimedes" is written as a variation on the theme presented in A Little Heart to Heart, with the main difference being its longer duration and heavy use of improvisation between each repetition of the melody. While there are several musical ideas and statements, these are fully improvised and analysis is limited.

Compositionally, there is little written, due to most content of the track being derived from improvisation and the repetition of the main melody. The sheet music as a whole only contains eleven measures, if the accordion intro and final measure are considered, but the melody itself lasts for eight measures. Within those eight measures, the melody follows the chord progression i-iv-V(-i), with i and iv lasting three bars and V lasting two. All chords present in this progression are diatonic chords found naturally in the F minor harmonic scale.
