The Pyro

The Pyro Update is a patch for the Pyro, the second class to have a major content pack released, as well as the first shipment of community-made maps, Fastlane and Turbine. Meet the Sniper was released alongside the update, although listed at the bottom of the page rather than as a major part of the update, much like with the previously released Gold Rush Update. The update was released on June 19th, 2008. The update page also had a link leading to the Valve Developer Wiki, which detailed the design of Team Fortress 2 maps.

The arrival of the Pyro Update also heralded the arrival of the first taunt kill, the Pyro's Hadouken taunt, which instantly kills players in its radius. The update also added the Compression Blast to the original Flamethrower, something that soon after became the core of the Pyro skill set.
