“ | What we can tell you is that all twenty of tonight's winners are going home with a handsome 100% Australium-plated Saxton Hale statuette, which'll look great on your virtual mantle, and even better buried waist-deep in the skull of one of your enemies, since it's also an in-game melee weapon.

The Saxxy is a limited melee weapon for all classes. It is a 100% Australium-plated statuette of Saxton Hale set into a small plinth.
The Saxxy functions identically to the default melee weapon for the player's chosen Class, but with an added cosmetic function: any enemies killed with it will produce motionless statues of pure Australium, instead of the normal ragdolls. Any Jiggle Bones on enemy ragdolls are also frozen by this effect. In addition, a special sound effect - unique to this weapon, the Golden Wrench, and the Golden Frying Pan - is played upon killing any enemy.
Additionally, upon killing an enemy as Engineer, unique voice lines will play.
The Saxxy was awarded to the winners of the Annual Saxxy Awards. Winning entries created by more than one player resulted in Saxxys being bestowed to each contributor; the award was not limited to the submitter.

Bugs
- Switching from the Saxxy to another stock weapon and switching back to the Saxxy will cause the Saxxy to have the attributes of the stock weapon, even when changing classes.
- After being killed, the statue versions of models will still move their mouths while finishing their death lines.
- Sometimes when a player is killed with the Saxxy, their statue will be an icy gold color instead of the normal gold.
- This bug is shared with both the Golden Frying Pan, and Golden Wrench.
Trivia
- As with the Golden Wrench and Golden Frying Pan, in the event a Saxxy is deleted by its owner, a message will be broadcast in-game to all players.
- The message is "<User> has destroyed their Saxxy, awarded for <Category>!"
- The overall design of the Saxxy is loosely based on the "Academy Award" statuette.
- Kills with the Saxxy will trigger the same Engineer responses as those of the Golden Wrench and Golden Frying Pan.
