The Sydney Sleeper is an unlockable primary weapon for the Sniper class. It appears to be a Tranquilizer rifle outfitted with a long scope and decorated with feathers. The Sniper will also carry darts in his breast pocket when it is equipped.
This weapon is almost identical to the Sniper Rifle; players can fire either plainly or through using the scope, it deals identical damage to the default weapon, and shots can be charged up whilst utilizing the scope. Upon reaching over 50% charge whilst scoped, however, the shot will inflict Jarate on the target for 8 seconds. In return, this weapon lacks the ability to deal Headshots. Kills made with a pseudo-headshot will register with the associated kill icon, but will not count as a Critical hit.

- The Sydney Sleeper no longer penetrates targets.
- The Sydney Sleeper no longer randomly Crits.
Trivia
- The Sydney Sleeper had the capability of hitting multiple targets with one shot till the October 6th Patch.
- Once the Sydney Sleeper charge meter is filled by 50%, ÜberCharged enemies may be hit with the Jarate effect, even though they won't take damage.
- 'Template:W' is the capital of New South Wales, Australia and contrary to popular belief, not the capital of Australia as a whole. That crown belongs to Template:W.
- Even though it supposedly shoots darts which may be classed as projectiles, the Sydney Sleeper is a hitscan weapon. It also does not leave a dart stuck into the target of which the Sniper would shoot at (e.g. If the Sniper shoots at the wall, there will not be a dart left in the wall).
- This is the second primary weapon to change a cosmetic feature on the player (i.e. the dart pack on Snipers chest) after the Huntsman.
- In addition to triggering the fake death on the Dead Ringer, inflicting Jarate on the Spy reveals his presence clearly for the team.
- The bullets on the Sniper's chest aren't completely covered by the dart pack.
- The air tank set in the butt of the gun (wrapped in darts) implies that the darts are propelled via a blast of compressed air, not unlike a real-life dart gun. This is supported by the distinct firing sound of the weapon.
