The Darwin's Danger Shield is a craftable secondary item for the Sniper class. It appears as a crocodile hide, complete with tail, strung to a wooden frame. A bird skull is tied to the body strap.
Similar to the Razorback, Darwin's Danger Shield is a passive item that is worn as a shield protecting the back. It provides an additional 25 max health to the Sniper wearing it. It does not, however, protect the player from backstabs.

Trivia
- The name of the weapon may be a reference to a multitude of things. Firstly, Darwin may refer to the capital of the Northern Territory in Australia, the Sniper's home country. Crocodiles are also often found around Darwin. On the other hand, Darwin may refer to Charles Darwin, who is known for proposing the scientific theory of natural selection.
- The tail of the Darwin's Danger Shield is jiggleboned.
- This item might come from the same crocodile as Ol' Snaggletooth or the Trophy Belt.
- The first version of the shield had jiggleboned legs, plus had the crocodile skin stretched over a full shield instead of a wooden frame, but these were removed in the creation process. [1]
- Darwin's Danger Shield was the first item to be featured on the Mann co. Store front page along side the L'Etranger for some players.
- The bird's skull may be from an Egyptian Plover, a small bird that feeds off scraps of food stuck in the crocodile's teeth.
- The Darwin's Danger Shield's straps currently cover any badges currently worn (Mercenary, Soldier of Fortune, Grizzled Veteran, Primeval Warrior, Polycount Pin, and the Dueling Mini-Game badges).
- The Danger Shield provides the user with +25 extra health, regardless of where the player is actually injured. For example, a Sniper could be shot in the leg and survive due to the health bonus, even though the shield would have no realistic part to play in the protection.
