Similar to the [[Eyelander]], this weapon has a large melee range and cannot roll for random [[critical hit]]s. However, the Claidheamh Mòr only decreases its wielder's health by 15. It also will not collect heads from decapitated victims, and as such, killing enemies with the Claidheamh Mòr will not increase health or speed. When equipped with the [[Chargin' Targe]] or [[Splendid Screen]], the sword will allow the Demoman to charge for an additional 0.5 seconds, effectively increasing the length and duration of the charge. This does not change the length of time needed to charge to gain mini-crits and full crits during a charge; the extra half second simply extends the guaranteed critical hit window of opportunity.

This article is about the Claidheamh Mòr itself. For other uses of the name, see Claymore (disambiguation).
Right about now you must be wondering how in God's name you're supposed to pronounce Claidheamohmor(sic). The answer: you don't! If you're remotely near one you'll be dead long before you're done injuring your vocal chords anyway!
Claidheamh Mòr publicity blurb

The Claidheamh Mòr (/'kʰlɪʝɛv moːɾ/ cly-uv more), or (/'kʰlɪʝɛu moːɾ/ cly-eau more) is a community-created melee weapon for the Demoman. It is a Zweihänder augmented with a crossguard with side rings and a green and team-colored tartan wrapped around the grip. The blade is splattered with blood.

Similar to the Eyelander, this weapon has a large melee range and cannot roll for random critical hits. However, the Claidheamh Mòr only decreases its wielder's health by 15. It also will not collect heads from decapitated victims, and as such, killing enemies with the Claidheamh Mòr will not increase health or speed. When equipped with the Chargin' Targe, Tide Turner or Splendid Screen, the sword will allow the Demoman to charge for an additional 0.5 seconds, effectively increasing the length and duration of the charge. This does not change the length of time needed to charge to gain mini-crits and full crits during a charge; the extra half second simply extends the guaranteed critical hit window of opportunity.

Taunting with the Claidheamh Mòr equipped will perform the Decapitation kill taunt.

The weapon was originally created for the Fancy vs. Nasty Update as a replacement for the Eyelander, and has since been officially added to the game.

Trivia

  • Claidheamh Mòr is the Scottish Gaelic form of Claymore, meaning "great/big sword" (literally translated to "sword big").
  • Although it is named after the Scottish Claymore sword, it appears to be more closely modeled after a Swiss or German Zweihänder with parrierhaken guards above the ricasso.
