“ | There are two sorts of men in this world: the sort with blood pouring out of a hole in their heads, and the sort holding the Ambassador.

The Ambassador is an unlockable primary weapon for the Spy class. It is a relatively large Revolver, consisting of a shiny metallic barrel and deep red rosewood grip. Inscribed on the barrel is a likeliness of the Scout's mother.
Despite having the same ammo count, this weapon has less damage dealing capabilities than the default Revolver. The main advantage is that the weapon's accuracy is akin to the Sniper Rifle. A direct headshot made with the Ambassador will result in a guaranteed Critical hit; otherwise, the weapon will never deal random Critical hits. After each shot, the accuracy is temporarily decreased, as indicated by an enlarged crosshair in the HUD. During this period, the weapon will be unable to score a critical headshot, even if fired at point blank range. Players must therefore choose their shots wisely.

Bugs
- The weapon does not have a barrel modeled or textured, which can be seen during reload. Additionally, the cylinder does not rotate when fired and the bullets do not visibly exit the chamber (which is visible at a high viewmodel FOV setting).
Previous Changes
- The Ambassador's headshot kill icon was changed to match the Sniper Rifle's headshot kill icon.
- The August 21, 2009 Patch has since fixed the lack of damage falloff.
- Originally, the Ambassador's headshots only inflicted Mini-Crits, it was changed on May 26, 2009 to deal Critical hits instead.
Trivia
- The bore of this weapon has been estimated to be .885 cal., although the cylinder size is smaller and suggests a .450 round.
- The Ambassador somewhat resembles the Dan Wesson PPC revolver and the Taurus Raging Bull 500 (accounting, of course, for the customized barrel and rosewood inlays).
- An unused alternate version of the Ambassador headshot icon appears in the game files, seen to the right.
- Two Team-Colored Ambassadors appear as the backpack icon for the Dueling Mini Game.
