The Golden Wrench appears to be an item of limited availability. When an enemy is killed, the corpse is turned into a golden statue with physics. The wrench has a description of: "Imbued with an ancient power." Its code was added to the game secretly in the July 1, 2010 update. A coded letter was also hidden in the new update. When the text "lek/NIxV HkQ6U RDB FXV/R s1Hefy yiY6t e76mmuL. So misJJ3k ivV9g Vy6X5 oepq sP7R/?" is decoded with the key "saxtonhale", it reveals the message: "Clearly here is more space than needed. I wonder what else was here?"
A line on TF2items.com states: "Can be found : Yes", meaning that it can be acquired through the Item drop system.
