The Golden Wrench appears to be an item of limited availability. When an enemy is killed, the corpse is turned into a golden statue with physics. The wrench has a description of: "Imbued with an ancient power." Its code was added to the game secretly in the July 1, 2010 update. A coded letter was also hidden in the new update. When the text "lek/NIxV HkQ6U RDB FXV/R s1Hefy yiY6t e76mmuL. So misJJ3k ivV9g Vy6X5 oepq sP7R/?" is decoded with the key "saxtonhale", it reveals the message: "Clearly here is more space than needed. I wonder what else was here?"
A line on TF2items.com states: "Can be found : Yes", which implies that it can be acquired through the Item drop system. However, no one has of yet found one, which means that its "droppable status" on TF2items.com may be incorrect.
