尽管身为一个不怎么遵守医疗道德的日耳曼医生，医疗兵无疑地还是队上主要的医疗职业。鉴于医疗兵并没有适合正面枪战的武装，他只会出现在接近前线的地方医治受伤的队友，让自己不被战火波及，当他的医疗枪对准队友发射时，可以让受伤的队友快速恢复生命值，更可以让满血的队友生命值暂时变多。进行医疗时，医疗兵的ÜberCharge计量表会慢慢累积，在计量表满时医疗枪会发出滋滋声并带有闪电，此时他便可以发动一次要命的冲锋攻击，让自己和一名队友暂时进入无敌状态、或是使他的治疗对象获得100%爆击的能力，两者作用时间皆长达八秒。
医疗兵是唯一能够随着时间经过自行恢复生命值的职业：医疗兵远离战斗越久，他的回血速度越快。一名刚受伤的医疗兵每秒可以回血3 HP，而在十秒内（只要没再受伤）回血速率会慢慢提升直到最大值每秒恢复6 HP。（但记住，配备吸血鬼针筒枪会将回血率从每秒3～6 HP降至1～4 HP）。

This update was prompted due to players feeling the Medic was underpowered and was therefore the least played class overall. After the Gold Rush/Medic Update was released, the amount of players playing Medic on a regular basis increased dramatically.

- According to one of the Demoman's domination lines, the Medic has a wife.
