There are two sorts of men in this world: the sort with blood pouring out of a hole in their heads, and the sort holding the Ambassador.
— Ambassador publicity blurb

The Ambassador is an unlockable primary weapon for the Spy class. It is a relatively large Revolver, consisting of a shiny metallic barrel and deep red rosewood grip. Inscribed on the barrel is a likeliness of the Scout's mother.

Despite having the same ammo count and less damage dealing capabilities than the default Revolver, the weapon's accuracy is akin to the Sniper Rifle. A direct headshot made with the Ambassador will result in a guaranteed Critical hit; otherwise, the weapon will never deal random Critical hits. After each shot, the accuracy is temporarily decreased, as indicated by an enlarged crosshair. During this period, the weapon will be unable to score a critical headshot, even if fired at point blank range. Players must therefore choose their shots wisely.

Damage

The Ambassador does 15% less damage than the Revolver per shot.

  • Base: 34
  • Max Ramp Up: 150% (51 damage)
  • Max Fall Off: 52% (18 damage)
  • Point-Blank: 46-56
  • Medium Range: 31-37
  • Long Range: 15-19
  • Mini-Crit: 46
  • Critical hit (headshot only): 102

Medium range is defined as the main resupply door to the opposite wall on the upper level of 2Fort. Long range is defined as battlement to battlement on 2Fort. Damages are approximate and determined by community testing.

Function times

The Ambassador has a 20% slower rate of fire than the Revolver.

  • Attack Interval: 0.696
  • Reload: 1.16
  • Cooldown: 0.95

All times are in seconds. Times are approximate and determined by community testing.

Previous Changes

  • Recently, the Ambassador's headshot kill icon was changed to match the Sniper Rifle's headshot kill icon.
  • The August 21 has since fixed the lack of damage falloff.

Trivia

  • For crafting purposes, this weapon is in the secondary slot.
  • The bore of this weapon has been estimated to be .885 cal., although the cylinder size is smaller and suggests a .450 round.
  • The Ambassador somewhat resembles the Dan Wesson PPC revolver and the Taurus Raging Bull 500 (accounting, of course, for the customized barrel and rosewood inlays).
Unused headshot kill icon
  • The Ambassador does not have a barrel modeled or textured, which can be seen during reload. Additionally, the cylinder does not rotate when fired and the bullets do not visibly exit the chamber (which is visible at a high viewmodel FOV setting).
  • An unused alternate version of the Ambassador headshot icon appears in the game files, seen to the right.
  • Two Team-Colored Ambassadors appear as the backpack icon for the Dueling Mini Game.
  • Some people think that the Scout's mother is engraved on the barrel of the Ambassador.
