This article is about the Spy's stock secondary weapon. For other revolvers, see Revolver (disambiguation).
You got blood on my suit.
The Spy

The Revolver is the default secondary weapon for the Spy. It is a full-size, double-action, six-shot revolver with ivory grips and a swing-out cylinder.

The Spy's only ranged weapon, the Revolver serves as a reliable way to fend off enemies who are at a range, and also often serves as an excellent backup plan for failed backstab attempts.

This weapon is fairly accurate and deals moderate damage, with some damage falloff when firing at distant targets. Like the Submachine Gun and the Pistol, the Revolver fires a single, perfectly-accurate shot before 'bullet-spread' takes effect, provided the player has waited 1.25 seconds since their last shot.

Trivia

  • The Spy reloads this weapon by using a device called a speedloader. As the name suggests, this allows for all six chambers in the cylinder to be quickly reloaded all at once, as opposed to having to insert each cartridge individually.
  • The Revolver bears a striking resemblance to the real-world Colt Diamondback and Colt Python.
  • The logo on the handle is noticeably similar to that of firearms manufacturer Sturm, Ruger & Company, Incorporated.
  • A popular custom modification to various Revolver models made when Team Fortress 2 takes place was to remove the original barrel from the frame, and replace it with the barrel from another Revolver, typically a Colt Python. These weapons were considered to be much more accurate than their non-modified counterparts, and it is feasible that the Spy's Revolver is modeled after one such custom weapon.
