The Ambassador is an unlockable primary weapon for the Spy. It is a large-barreled revolver with a deep red rosewood grip. Inscribed on the barrel is the likeness of the Scout's mother.
The weapon has lower base damage, does not apply random critical hits, and fires at a slower rate than the default Revolver, but deals critical hits on a headshot and has perfect accuracy for shots fired at slower intervals. A short period after firing, however, the weapon has greatly decreased accuracy, as indicated by an enlarged crosshair in the HUD, and does not headshot for critical damage even if the bullets make contact. The weapon is thus most appropriate for use in situations where the wielder can avoid damage after attacking (such as when finishing off enemies).
The Ambassador is automatically given to any player who obtains 5 Spy achievements.

May 21, 2009 Patch (Sniper vs. Spy Update)
- The item was added to the game.
- Fixed Ambassador not using hitboxes to trace against players. It now works like all other bullet-firing weapons in the game.
- Fixed Ambassador shooting through gates.
- Fixed Ambassador not critting during the round win period.
- The Ambassador now does full critical hits on headshots, instead of mini-crits.
- Fixed the Ambassador not doing damage to buildings.
- Fixed the Ambassador not shooting enemy sticky bombs.
- The weapon now only crits when fully accurate (after cooldown) and no longer penetrates enemies.
July 8, 2010 Patch (The Engineer Update)
- [Undocumented] The weapon was added in the crafting blueprint for the Southern Hospitality.
- [Undocumented] The Ambassador's headshot kill icon was changed to match the Sniper Rifle's headshot kill icon.
