"Meet the Heavy" Video Transcript

["Meet the Heavy" text appears]

[The Heavy walks up to the camera and places Minigun on a cardboard box and sits down in a chair]

Heavy: "I am Heavy Weapons Guy....and this [grabs Minigun] is my weapon. [lays both hands covetously on Minigun]She weighs one hundred fifty kilograms and fires two hundred dollar, custom-tooled cartridges at ten thousand rounds per minute. [looks intently at viewer]It costs four hundred thousand dollars to fire this weapon... for twelve seconds."

Heavy: [Laughs]

Heavy: [Checks Minigun]

Heavy: "Oh my god, who touched Sasha? Alright.. Who touched my gun!?"

Heavy: "Some people think they can outsmart me. Maybe, [sniff] maybe. I've yet to meet one that can outsmart bullet."

Heavy: [Holds up cartridge to the camera as you hear the sound of the Minigun revving up]

[Heavy devastates the enemies with his Minigun on Dustbowl Stage 1 Cap 1]

[Team Fortress 2 theme plays]

Heavy: "Beeeeehhhhh! Uwaaaaaaah! Wahahahahaha! Cry some more!"

[Pause]

Heavy: "Heheh, cry some more."

[Team Fortress 2 ending flourish music plays]

Notes

  • Body Count: 7
  • The Pyro is the first to die in the bottom right corner as soon as the revving sound is heard.
  • As the first 'experimental' Meet the Team video, the ending screen features the outdated official group pic of the classes and there is no introductory 'Meet the Heavy' title card. However, the alternate language, TF2 Official Blog and the Valve YouTube versions of the video have had these features added to make them consistent with the newer videos.
  • The area where the Heavy is firing his Minigun is in the first stage of the Attack/Defend control point map Dustbowl, where he is standing on the large rock just outside of BLU spawn.
  • The Meet the Heavy video was the first Meet the Class video that Valve recorded in multiple languages. Current language versions include:
    • English
    • Russian
    • French
    • German
  • The Russian language version on the Steam website is subtitled in English. It is the only "official" non-English version subtitled in this manner.
  • Per the subtitles, the Russian Heavy calls his Minigun "my baby."
  • On most of the translated Meet the Team movies, all non-dialogue vocals (shouting, laughing, cries of pain, etc.) are lifted directly from the original English version. The German and French versions of Meet the Heavy are fully voice-acted.
  • In the German version of Meet the Heavy, there was no blood seen and machine parts replace body parts for gibs, most possibly due to censorship reasons. This alteration was also seen in the German version of Meet the Soldier.
  • Amusing Sign: The 'Super Caliber' cartridges box that the Heavy rests his weapon on and subsequently crushes is marked 'Fragile'. Said box is also placed the wrong way up.
  • There is a battle plan drawn up on the whiteboard in the background for what appears to be Point B in the map Gravel Pit.
  • After the Heavy says "She weighs one hundred fifty kilograms" and the camera zooms in, it seems the camera has trouble focusing as the image appears a blurred for a short moment.
  • The Heavy fires his Minigun for exactly twelve seconds.
  • The Minigun's true in-game rate of fire is roughly 570 rounds per minute.
  • The Heavy's Minigun, uses the old muzzle-flash, it is now has a softer finish. This is because Valve's particle system was still being worked on. [1]
  • In the scene where the Heavy is firing his Minigun rapidly, at around 1:15. A BLU Sniper is spotted running and then crouches back near rocks in the top right corner, unseen by the Heavy, while the Heavy continues to finish off said Sniper's team.
  • At 1:07-1:08, you can see the Pyro getting blown up, but in the other translated "Meet the Heavy", he gets sniped (with the exception of the Russian version).
  • Early on in the battle scene at the end, parts of a gibbed Scout (along with his Scattergun) rain down behind the Heavy with no explanation as to where they came from and how it happened.
  • While some believe that Meet the Spy or Meet the Soldier was the first Meet the Team video to feature a BLU and RED version of the same titular class, this video was the first to do so, as a BLU Heavy is shot down by the RED Engineer's Sentry Gun, leaving behind his Minigun and causing his ragdoll to fall into Dustbowl's Stage Trench.
  • The phrase "I've yet to meet someone who can outsmart a bullet" is probably a reference to Robocop's first movie, where one of the bad guys is robbing a gas station and the current employee is a young guy reading a geometry book so the villains tells him: "I bet you think you're pretty smart, think you can outsmart a bullet?".
  • The phrase "It costs 400,000 dollars to fire this weapon for 12 seconds" line is contradicted by the Heavy's in-game achievement "Heavy Industry" which states "Fire 200,000 dollars worth of ammunition". If the latter was true, the achievement would take only 6 seconds to complete, instead in-game it takes roughly 1 minute and 45 seconds to complete it. However it could only count the ammo used and exclude the cost to actually fire the weapon.
  • In the actual game, the Scout may say "$400,000 to fire that gun, huh? Yeah, money well spent!" or "Dem $200 bullets ain't so hot when they don't hit nothin', are dey?" upon dominating a Heavy. Also, since the Engineer Update, the Engineer may say, "Nevermind the bullets; how much all these coffins costin' ya?" This is one of only three times that the game references Sasha to its abnormally high maintenance cost that the Heavy claims in the video, the other is the "Heavy Industry" achievement.
  • The Heavy has the older skull and crossbones shoulder emblem. The Heavy's shoulder emblem was later changed to a fist.
  • During most of the movie, the Heavy's eyes are green, but are blue in the final part.
  • Meet the Heavy is the only Meet the video that uses the old posing of the characters (This is most likely because this was the only Meet the Team video made before the release of the final game, and thus was only marketing). They had more facial expressions in the later videos.
