Our influence grows!
The Spy on the Saharan culture

L'Étranger (Pronounced Lay-tron-jay) is a craftable primary weapon for the Spy class. It is a stylish Revolver with an ivory handle design. Although the weapon is used in the primary slot and craftable as a primary weapon, the Mann Co. Catalog lists it as a secondary weapon. Crafting with the weapon also treats it as secondary.

This weapon deals 20% less damage than the default Revolver, instead it fills the Spy's Cloak meter by 15% with each hit on an enemy. This applies to whatever type of watch is being used by the player.

Trivia

  • L'Étranger is the French title of an existentialist novel, written by Albert Camus, in which an emotionally detached Frenchman murders an Algerian with a handgun.
  • L'Étranger means "The Stranger" or "The Outsider" or "Abroad" in French, a reference to the Spy's mysterious nature; and his roots to France.
  • The weapon is modeled after the Nagant M1895 revolver. However, L'Étranger, like the Revolver and Ambassador, reloads with a speedloader and flip-out cylinder, whereas the actual Nagant uses an Abadie gate and hand ejector to load one cartridge at a time. Also, the Nagant has a 7-round cylinder, as opposed to the L'Etranger's cylinder holding 6, like the Spy's other revolvers.
  • While the in-game description says that the L'Etranger fills up "15 Cloak on hit", the lack of the "%" character is most probably a typo.
  • It has been know for it to randomly show up in player's backpacks, whether accidentally or intentionally in unknown.
