There are two sorts of men in this world: the sort with blood pouring out of a hole in their heads, and the sort holding the Ambassador.
— Ambassador publicity blurb

The Ambassador is an unlockable primary weapon for the Spy class. It is a relatively large Revolver which consists of a shiny metallic barrel and deep red rosewood grip. Inscribed on the barrel is a likeliness of the Scout's mother.

Despite having the same ammo count, this weapon deals less damage and fires at a slower rate than the default Revolver, which can make the Ambassador a less effective in open combat. The main advantage of the weapon is that its accuracy is akin to the Sniper Rifle. A direct headshot made with the Ambassador will result in a guaranteed Critical hit, otherwise the weapon will never deal random Critical hits. After each shot the accuracy is temporarily decreased, as indicated by an enlarged crosshair in the HUD. During this period the weapon will be unable to score a critical headshot even if fired at point-blank range. Players must therefore choose their shots wisely.

  • Base: 34
  • Max Ramp Up: 150% (51 damage)
  • Max Fall Off: 52% (18 damage)

  • Medium Range: 31-37
  • Long Range: 15-19
  • Mini-Crit: 46
  • Critical hit (headshot only): 102

Medium range is defined as the main resupply door to the opposite wall on the upper level of 2Fort. Long range is defined as battlement to battlement on 2Fort. Damages are approximate and determined by community testing.

Bugs

  • Like L'Etranger, the weapon does not have a modeled or textured barrel, which can be seen during the reload animation. Additionally, the cylinder does not rotate when fired and the bullets do not visibly exit the chamber (which is visible at a high viewmodel FOV setting) nor does its hammer move. This specific problem is also prevalent with the Big Kill and L'Etranger.
  • Unlike the default Revolver, the Spy does not actually "reload" this weapon; instead he simply opens the cylinder and then closes it again. No bullets are ejected or replaced and no hand comes up to reload the weapon. Like the other graphical bugs, this issue persists on both the Big Kill and L'Etranger.
