The Spy on the Saharan culture

The L'Etranger, pronounced /le.tʁɑ̃.ʒe/, is a community-made primary weapon for the Spy. It is a stylish narrow-barreled revolver with an ivory handle design.

This weapon deals 20% less damage than the default Revolver, making it unsuitable for direct conflict. However, a successful hit will fill the Spy's Cloak meter by 15%, regardless of which cloaking device is equipped. Players can therefore use the gun to charge their Cloak in order to perform escape or traverse a guarded area. This is especially useful when there is no metal or ammunition within close proximity.

The kill icon for the L'Etranger was contributed by HyenaDip.

Bugs

  • Like the Ambassador, the weapon does not have a barrel modeled or textured, and this can be seen when reloading. Additionally, the cylinder does not rotate when fired and the bullets do not visibly exit the chamber, which is visible at a high viewmodel FOV setting. This issue, along with the lack of hammer movement upon firing is prevalent on both the Ambassador and Big Kill.
  • The bullets chambered in the weapon do not line up with the barrel.
  • Like with the Big Kill and Ambassador, the Spy does not actually "reload" this weapon. He simply flips open the cylinder and then closes it again, and the bullets are not ejected or replaced in the process.
  • Wielding this weapon with DirectX 8.0 enabled will result in it being visible even when the Spy is cloaked.

Trivia

  • L'Etranger is the French title of Template:W, written by Template:W, in which an emotionally-detached French Algerian murders an Arab with a handgun.
  • L'Etranger is French for "The Stranger", "The Outsider" or "Abroad", tying in with the Spy's mysterious nature and his roots to Template:W.
  • The weapon is modeled after the Template:W. However L'Etranger, like the Revolver and Ambassador, reloads with a speedloader and flip-out cylinder, whereas the actual Nagant uses an Abadie gate and hand ejector to load one cartridge at a time. Also, the Nagant has a 7-round cylinder, as opposed to the L'Etranger's cylinder holding 6, like the Spy's other revolvers.
  • As correct nouns in the French launguage require an acute accent, the upper case E in the weapon's name should be É.
