The Disguise Kit, also known as the Spytron 3000, is the default PDA weapon for the Spy. It is an ordinary cigarette case that, in addition to six normal cigarettes, contains hidden spytech.
Selecting this weapon allows the player to disguise as any class on either team. When selected, the disguise menu fills most of the screen, making in game movements difficult. Players can select classes with the correct keys, and switch teams with a single key. Disguising is carried out over a couple of seconds, during which smoke particles will surround the Spy if viewed by another player. Once finished, a line drawing of the Spy shows up briefly on the player's screen to indicate a successful disguise. This line drawing also appears when the disguise is broken. Pressing the last disguise button allows the player to change their disguised weapon to one from the slot they currently have equipped.
The Spy's current disguise class, name, health and weapon will appear in the HUD. The status of enemy Medics currently healing the Spy will also be shown.
The Disguise Kit is unavailable to Spy players who equip Your Eternal Reward.
The player is capable of enabling a minimal Disguise Kit menu via the advanced options menu. With the minimal Disguise Kit menu active, the player only needs the 1, 2 and 3 keys to disguise. Selecting 1 allows you to press 1, 2 or 3 to disguise as Scout, Soldier and Pyro respectively. Selecting 2 allows you to press 1, 2 or 3 to disguise as Demoman, Heavy Weapons Guy, and Engineer respectively. Selecting 3 allows you to press 1, 2 or 3 to disguise as a Medic, Sniper, and Spy respectively.

Update history
- Fixed cloaked/disguised/disguising Spy reporting his achievements to everyone else
- Added "Toggle Disguise Team" binding in Options -> Keyboard to toggle the disguise team for the Spy's PDA.
- Changed PDA menus to accept keys bound to "slot1", "slot2", etc., and "slot10" cancels.
- Improved prediction of Spy's speed changes when disguising.

Bugs
- Masks applied to the Spy clip with his cigarette in world view.
- Switching class in spawn while disguised hides certain parts of the player's model, such as the Pyro's gas mask and the Heavy's Fists.
- Many Hats worn by players Spies are disguised as will have serious clipping issues, as disguises automatically use the default hat.
- When disguised as a player wearing an Unusual Hat, the particle effect will not be reproduced
Trivia
- Although very rarely used, the Spy can undisguise without attacking. Pressing the change team key when using the kit and selecting Spy will effectively cause the player to disguise as a friendly Spy and therefore themselves.
- This falls under one of four slots that have no other items, but is removed when using Your Eternal Reward.
