The Soldier can avoid killing himself while still doing the taunt if he is somehow launched/knockbacked into the air with a sizable amount of health remaining. This will cause him to gain extra height, as if he was rocket jumping mid-air, while still maintaining his momentum and receiving reduced self-inflicted damage. All enemies unfortunate enough to come within the blast radius will still be gibbed.

The Soldier

The Grenade, also known as Kamikaze, is a kill taunt that activates upon taunting with the Equalizer or Escape Plan. The Soldier throws his weapon over his shoulder dramatically, cracks his knuckles, rips a grenade from his bandolier and pulls the pin. The resulting explosion gibs the Soldier himself, and any enemy too slow, unaware, or simply unfortunate enough to be within range.

This taunt destroys any enemy players and buildings that are within approximately 1.8 metres (6 feet or 96 Hammer Units) of the explosion. The area of effect of this taunt allows the Soldier to kill multiple enemies, including any that are next to or even behind the taunting player. Enemies that inflict damage to the taunting Soldier before the explosion are credited with a Grenade kill.

Performing the Grenade taunt with the Lumbricus Lid equipped causes the "Hallelujah" sound clip from the Worms games to play, as well as a unique kill icon being used, while using the Holy Hand Grenades.

As with most kill taunts, this taunt can be used to kill enemy players during humiliation and stalemates.

The taunt functions as an explosion of 500 base damage/320 self damage at the location where the Soldier completes the taunt, which accounts for the taunt’s unusual ability to damage skeletons and the various means for the Soldier and enemies surviving the taunt and accomplishing jumps, including Invulnerabilty, Vaccinator blast resistance ÜberCharge, blast resistance upgrade in Mann vs. Machine, or sufficient Overheal augmented by some means (Battalion's Backup, Upgrades, etc.).

Airblasting the taunting Soldier can relocate the center of the blast, but usually completely cancels the taunt.

The kill icon for the Lumbricus Lid taunt was contributed by Psyke .
