The Gold Rush Update, also referred to as the Medic Update, is a patch for the Medic, the first class to have a major content pack released, as well as the release of the Payload gamemode and the release of the Team Fortress 2 Character Info and Loadout system, allowing players to equip different Primary, Secondary, and Melee weapons. Meet the Scout was released alongside the update, although listed at the bottom of the page rather than as a major part of the update. The update was released on April 29, 2008.

Trivia
- Soon after the update, players could use console commands to automatically unlock all of the Medic Weapons without unlocking any achievements. This was soon patched out.
- The Blutsauger originally had "no critical hits" as it's negative attribute.
- The Kritzkrieg initially charged only 10% faster than the Medigun.
- The Ubersaw was previously only unlocked after completing all 39 Medic achievements.
