“ | It allows the Pyro to ignite an enemy at long range, but does require careful aim on their part. It’s particularly useful for causing havoc on Snipers and Engineers who want to keep their distance.

The Flare Gun is an unlockable secondary weapon for the Pyro. It is a flared-end, single-shot team-colored flare gun.
The weapon fires low-damage flare projectiles that travel at approximately 1450 Hammer units per second. The flares have a shallow trajectory curve that causes them to drop vertical distance drastically at extremely long range. Enemies hit by the flare will suffer minor damage and be set on fire. The damage dealt is not subject to distance indexed damage falloff or rampup. Additionally, flares will deliver a critical hit on already burning targets. Unlike most other weapons that require reloading, the Flare Gun will be reloaded even if the player switches to a different weapon before the reload animation plays.
The flare disintegrates on contact with any surface or flare fired by the opposing team with a hissing noise. While the weapon cannot be fired whilst the player is underwater, the flare can damage but not ignite enemies if fired into water.
Taunting with the Flare Gun equipped makes the Pyro perform a deadly Hadouken.
The Flare Gun is automatically given to any player who obtains 10 Pyro achievements.

- When reloading the Flare Gun after using the last flare, it shows you putting a flare into the gun, but not using it.
Trivia

- In real life, flare guns are normally used for distress signalling and have very limited capabilities as a weapon.
