The Mantreads are a community-created secondary weapon for the Soldier. They are a pair of dark brown tanker boots.
When equipped, the Mantreads reduce the knockback received from damaging weapons (including airblast) by 75%; this does not apply to the player's own weapons and so does not impede rocket jumping. In addition, whenever the player lands on an enemy, if the fall was long enough to cause fall damage to the player, the enemy will be dealt 10 damage plus triple the fall damage the player would normally have received, and the player takes no fall damage. The fall does not have to occur from rocket jumping in order to deliver damage. Successfully landing on an enemy will be indicated by a unique sound, a unique particle effect, and the Soldier's view appearing to shake. The Mantreads do not take effect if the player lands on a building. While blast jumping, air control is increased by 200%.

Bugs
- The Medic achievements Medical Intervention can be earned with the damage deal from the Mantreads.
- In some instances, the Mantreads will only deliver 30 damage upon a successful landing.
- The Mantreads deal triple fall damage to players, but will also deal 10 additional damage, although it isn’t mentioned in the item’s description.
- Rarely, the Mantreads stomp can sometimes Stomp twice in one fall.
- While jumping using the Cow Mangler 5000, there is no third person stomping animation, resulting in a reference pose.
- While falling from a high place with a melee weapon out, the Mantreads stomping animation uses the animation for the Rocket Launcher.
- The Mantreads doesn't appear when inspecting it from the backpack menu.
- Mantreads damage can be "transferred" if the enemy you are landing on also has the Mantreads equipped and is standing on a friendly player. The damage, meant originally for the enemy player, is then multiplied again and dealt to the friendly player that they are standing on. [1]
Notes
- This item cannot be worn with the shoes or boots cosmetic items, as they occupy the same equip region.
Trivia
- The name is a play on words of "man", and "treads", which are a kind of boots worn by travellers, military personnel etc, according to what they plan to walk on (snow treads, mountain treads, etc). In this case Mantreads.
