Fire is for cooking s'mores son, get a REAL GUN.
The Soldier

The Flare Gun is a secondary weapon for the Pyro. It appears as a snub-nosed, single-shot flare gun, team-colored appropriately.

The weapon fires low-damage flare projectiles with a shallow curve that drops down drastically at extreme long range. The flares set enemies on fire; are not subject to distance indexed damage falloff or rampup; and Mini-crit or Critical hit on burning targets at close to medium or medium to longer range, respectively.

The flare disintegrates on contact with any surface or flare fired by the opposing team with a hissing noise. While the weapon cannot be fired whilst the player is underwater, the flare damages enemies if fired into water (though the enemy will not ignite).

A Pyro with the Flare Gun can ignite enemies out of range of their flamethrower, though this does require careful aim. It is particularly useful for distracting Snipers from their scoping and Engineers from their buildings. The primary uses of the weapon are for finishing off fleeing opponents or setting enemies alight quickly at range.
