Voice communication is vital to successful Chain Übering. If you are currently wielding the Übersaw, have the Übering Medic announce your remaining Über-Charge percentage meter in order to orchestrate an uninterrupted Über switch.

Chain Über can be achieved effectively in areas crowded with enemies as it is easier to attack them with their Übersaw. Chain Über can be used effectively in places such as:

*Spawn doors.

*Carts heavily guarded by enemy players.

*Control points being captured.

Tips
Use the following tips to help you chain effectively:

# Heal teammates until you're ready to start (or continue) the Chain Über.

# Don't bother with objectives unless heavily guarded; your task is to cause as much havoc as possible and to maintain the chain, not to capture a point.

# If enemies are no longer around, stop the Chain Über. Save your buildup and start again when a new opportunity presents itself.

# Slower classes are primary targets. Scouts will only lead you on a wild chase that will end your chain. (If necessary, Scouts may be taken down using the Blutsauger or Syringe Gun.)

# Stay away from Pyros that use the Flamethrowers airblast. If you are repeatedly being airblasted, either retreat or shoot him with your Blutsauger or Syringe Gun while your ally continues to Über you.

# Try to stick near to your Medic buddy while you are Chain Übering. Don't mix up your partner.

# Keep close attention to your surroundings to plan for your escape.

# If your partner dies, retreat while shooting with the Blutsauger or Syringe Gun.

# Don't use Blutsauger or Syringe Gun except for Sentry Guns, airblasting Pyros, or Scouts if necessary.

# The Übering Medic may block enemy movement to aid the Übered Medic rack kills.

# To quickly get away from Sentry Guns, jump while Übered to use the Sentry Gun's recoil effect to your advantage.

Countering Chain Über Medics
Though there may be few, there are various counters to Chain Über Medics - some similar to countering a normal Medic pair.

*Wait inside the spawn room until one of the Medics runs out of ÜberCharges, then kill them.

*As a Pyro, airblast the attacking Medic out of the melee range of other teammates.

*As a Soldier or Demoman, blast them apart them using sticky bombs or rockets.

The Medic

Chain Über is a tag team technique that allows two Medic players, equipped with the Ubersaw and Medigun, to maintain a constant state of invulnerability.

To be successfully performed, one player must have built an ÜberCharge up prior to the start of the technique. The first player must then deploy their charge on the second, who in turn must use their Übersaw to attack enemy players and subsequently fill their own Übercharge meter. Once it is ready, thew second player must then quickly deploy the ÜberCharge to the first Medic, who in turn must repeat the same action once they have built the charge with their Ubersaw. If fluidly executed, both Medics can remain invulnerable for extended periods of time whilst killing a multitude of enemies..

The technique requires considerable communication between the two Medics. Both should be aware of the status of both Ubercharges in order to continue the chaining uninterrupted, as well as when to break off the chain strategically.

Chain Über can be an effective strategy for clearing a certain area of enemies, pushing through a strong defense or heading off an incoming attack. It is less effective, however, against buildings or for completing certain objectives such as capturing a point. The chain can be easily broken by Pyros utilising the Airblast ability to separate the Medics, or with Scouts luring the chain into chasing them and wasting time. The attacking Medic, though, is not limited to using his Syringe Gun or Blutsauger to fend such classes off. Slower classes are a priority for the chain, as the Medics can easily reach and attack them.

Should the chain be broken, both Medics should escape the area and regroup later with another Ubercharge ready.
