The burning you feel? It is shame.
The Heavy

The Huo-Long Heater is a primary weapon for the Heavy. It is an antique-looking, partially team-colored machine gun made of wood and metal, which features a traditional Chinese dragon's head mounted on the muzzle of the gun and a hexagonal, chest-resembling ammo drum. The name comes from the Chinese word for "fire dragon" (火龍, huǒlóng).

While deployed, a flashing ring of flame and smoke surrounds the user; this ring lights any enemy within the flame's radius on fire and inflicts afterburn damage, but will not damage buildings and cannot deal critical hits (though it can deal Mini-crits). However, the Huo-Long Heater consumes an additional 6 ammunition per second while spun up, even if not firing. In addition, the fire ring will stop appearing if the weapon is out of ammunition.

This item was awarded in Genuine quality to players who pre-purchased Sleeping Dogs on Steam before August 14, 2012, or August 17, 2012 in Europe.

The Huo-Long Heater was later contributed to the Steam Workshop, at Valve's request.

Trivia

  • The weapon was originally designed to be a firework cannon, but was changed into more of a gun shape at Valve’s request. [1]
  • If the contributors were unable to make the proper changes to the weapon in time, then Wrath of Wan Hu, a Pyro flamethrower with a similar theme submitted before the promotion, would have taken the Huo-Long Heater’s place. However, Huo-Long Heater was finished in time.[2]
  • The weapon's name and appearance are based on the Chinese God called Huang Long. He is a large gold (or yellow) dragon, according to Chinese mythology.
