Axtinguisher
“ | This mighty axe guarantees critical hits on any enemy that’s currently on fire, although it’s significantly weaker against enemies who aren’t.

The Axtinguisher is an unlockable melee weapon for the Pyro class. A crude weapon, it consists of a slightly rusted axe-head stained with blood and wrapped in barbed wire, affixed to a curved wooden handle with a fabric grip and splintered end.
By itself, the weapon does half the damage of the regular Fire Axe, except against buildings. On the other hand, it will always perform a Critical hit against a target that is on fire yet will never have Critical hits on a non-burning opponent. The weapon may perform the Crit animation when swung, complete with the correct sound effect, but it will not inflict critical damage unless the victim is alight.

Trivia
- On non-burning opponents, the Axtinguisher ties with the Gloves of Running Urgently and Equalizer (at 200+ Health) as being the weakest melee weapon in the game; however, unlike those others, the Axtinguisher does not deal random Crits.
- Pyros will catch fire briefly when they are in the heart of a Flamethrower or being hit by the Flare Gun; using teamwork with a friendly Pyro will make it possible to axtinguish enemy Pyros. It is virtually impossible to do this solo even with the Degreaser's increased weapon switch time.
- In the censored version of Team Fortress 2, the Axtinguisher and the Übersaw are not stained with blood.
- The Axtinguisher can achieve Critical hits when boosted by a Crit boost but will still deal 50% damage unless the target is on fire.
