This article is about the taunt item. For the video, see Meet the Medic.
Whatever the occasion, celebrate it with the Meet the Medic, a custom taunt that allows you to punctuate anything you do, no matter how trivial, with god rays, orchestral swells and an explosion of doves.
Meet the Medic publicity blurb

The Meet the Medic is a special taunt for the Medic.

When the player activates it through the taunts menu, the Medic performs a heroic pose with his secondary weapon as white stage lights and flying doves emanate around him to the tune of an angelic choir, similar to several shots in the Meet the Medic video, notably the closing shot of the Medic atop a pile of Soldier corpses.

Bugs

  • Taunting while waist-high in water makes a loud sound from the dove entities colliding with the water.
    • The sound can generally be heard anywhere on the map.
      • Doing this with enough people can crash the server.
  • Taunting in Medieval Mode causes the Medic to perform the taunt with his currently equipped weapon.
  • Owning the taunt may cause replay footage of the taunt to show the aura as well as play the sound around the player, regardless of which class is being played as.
  • Doves can sometimes get stuck on doors such as resupply doors; they only move out of the door when someone opens it.

Trivia

  • An unused texture exists in the game files that depicts the previous backpack icon being made, medic_heroic_taunt_layers.vtf. The only difference is that the god rays leaves the boundaries of the cinema reel icon.
