The Bazaar Bargain is a primary weapon for the Sniper. It is a long ornately carved rifle with a small circular sight attached to a long rod, secured with golden straps. It has a curved stock with a golden recoil pad and a laser sight attached under the barrel.
This weapon features a specific bonus attuned to headshots. At the start, the headshot counter is set to 0. As such, the zoomed charge rate of the weapon is 20% less than that of the Sniper Rifle. Upon the player successfully scoring a headshot, the charge rate of the next shot taken will be 10% faster. Subsequent headshots will increase the charge rate by 10% increments, until the bonus caps out at 7 consecutive headshots, at which the weapon will have a 50% faster charge rate than the default Sniper Rifle. Should the player deliver a scoped body shot, however, the headshot counter will decrease by one and the charge rate will decrease by 10%. Missing a scoped shot completely will clear the headshot counter. Unscoped shots taken with the weapon will not affect the charge rate.
This item was previously tested in the Team Fortress 2 Beta as the Beta Sniper Rifle 1.

Update history
- The item was added with the following stats:
- On Hit: Rifle charge rate increased by 35%
- On Miss: Rifle charge rate decreased by 65%
- Bonus structure changed
- 25% charge rate bonus on bodyshot
- 45% charge rate bonus on headshot
- 65% charge rate penalty on miss
- The charge rate now resets to default upon death
- The charge rate is now unaffected by shots fired while unzoomed
June 23, 2011 Patch (Über Update)
- The Bazaar Bargain was added to the main game.
- Added/Refined recoil/draw/crit/reload forces for all of the new weapons in the Uber Update
Bugs
- Although the headshot counter appears to max out at seven, it actually does go up beyond it. This doesn't grant any more increase in charging speed, but allows the player to score several bodyshots without the charge speed and the visible counter falling, as long as the headshot counter is at seven or above.
- When the Sniper pulls back the bolt to release the spent shell, the shell appears to pop out of the Sniper's face.
- When the Sniper pulls back the bolt, his thumb clips through the weapon.
- This weapon lacks team-colored critical-boost textures, and will only surge with lightning to represent a crit boost.
Unused content
- There are 4 different sound effects located in the GCF, for the Bazaar Bargain, that are not used. Further, there is a sound in the GCF labeled as
sniper_bazaarbargain_shoot.wav
, which is the Sydney Sleeper firing sound under a different name.
Trivia
- Headshooting a Scout under the influence of Bonk! Atomic Punch will raise the headshot counter even though this is technically a miss.
- This appears counterintuitive to some, but hitting an Engineer building with a scoped shot will, logically, wipe the headshot counter.
- The Bazaar Bargain is based on the jezail, a type of musket that was commonly used in the Middle East. While the quality and manufacture of such weapons differed widely, a common feature of these weapons lay in their use of a heavily curved stock and rifled barrels, the latter of which gave them a great advantage in range and accuracy over the smoothbore firearms that were commonly used up until the mid-19th century.
- A 'Template:W' is a Persian word which describes large markets where goods are sold. Bazaars can be found across the world, though they are most common in the Middle East, primarily in Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
