The Soldier

The Escape Plan is a melee weapon for the Soldier. It is a weathered and well-used pickaxe.

Once this weapon is equipped, it has the unique ability to increase the movement speed of the player as their health is diminished. Consequently, the weapon blocks healing from all Medic weapons while active. Players wielding it are also unable to call for Medic. Its critical hit animation is a backhanded swing, striking the enemy with the sharp end of the weapon. While this weapon is deployed, players are vulnerable to mini-crit damage, and will remain so for a short period after holstering.

Taunting with the Escape Plan equipped will perform the Kamikaze kill taunt. A variation of the taunt is available to players who equip the Lumbricus Lid.

The Escape Plan was originally added to the Team Fortress 2 Beta as the Beta Split Equalizer 1, and was consequently added to the game in the June 27, 2012 Patch.

The Escape Plan is automatically given to any player who owned an Equalizer prior to the June 27, 2012 Patch with the same quality as the aforementioned Equalizer. In addition, if the Equalizer was customized with a Name Tag or Description Tag, the Escape Plan will inherit that customization.
