The Frying Pan is a melee weapon used by all classes ("These items know no class...They work for all peoples" - TF2 Blog) It is simply a black Frying Pan made of cast iron.

Gameplay-wise, this weapon has no discernable differences from the Shovel or Bottle. The weapon was earned by purchasing Left 4 Dead 2 before October 7, 2010. Players also received Ellis' Cap as a part of this promotion.[1] [2]

L4D2 Frying pan

• This is the first promotional crossover weapon from a different Valve game to make it into Team Fortress 2.
• This is the second weapon that can be equipped only by the Soldier and The Demoman, the first weapon being The Pain Train.
• The Frying Pan is a melee weapon in another Valve game, Left 4 Dead 2.
• A similar Frying Pan was designed for the unofficial Fancy vs. Nasty update and was a skin for the Equalizer.
• The Demoman's taunt with the Frying Pan is the same as that of the Bottle, so he drinks the Frying Pan as he does the Pain Train.
• As a Soldier, selecting the Frying Pan, like the Pain Train, still creates the sound heard when the Shovel flips open.
• It also has the same melee impact sound as the Shovel or the bottle.
• The Frying Pan has yet to be given a unique kill icon.
• The Frying Pan is not tradable.

  Soldier frying maggots
• This is one of 7 items available through the purchase of another game, the others being the Big Kill, the Lugermorph, the Bill's Hat, the Lumbricus Lid, the Max's Severed Head, and the Ellis' Cap.
• If you already own a copy of Left 4 Dead 2, you will get this weapon and Ellis' Cap without having to pay for another copy.
• On the Sacrifice update page, the Soldier can be seen cooking maggots in the Frying Pan while the Scout (wearing Ellis' Hat) watches. This is a reference to one of his most quoted lines of dialogue, "Maggots!".
• It was possible to craft this weapon using the "Fabricate Class Weapons" blueprint before the ability to do so was disabled.
• It was first belived it could only be used by Soldier and The Demoman yet the information on the offical TF2 blog suggests it can be used by all classes ("these items know no class, color, weight or gender. They work for all peoples" - TF2 Blog)
