The Frying Pan is a melee weapon for the Soldier and Demoman classes. It appears as a slightly worn cast-iron skillet with a thin film of grease caked onto the bottom.
The Frying Pan simply replaces the Shovel or Bottle without altering gameplay mechanics, similarly to what the Lugermorph is to the Pistol or the Big Kill to the Revolver. Critical hit animations are identical to the default weapons, as are the taunts. Upon contact with a surface or player, it will play sounds identical to those used in Left 4 Dead 2.
This weapon was given to players who purchased Left 4 Dead 2 before October 7, 2010 as part of the Sacrifice DLC.[1] Players also received Ellis' Cap as a part of this promotion.[1]

Trivia
- On The Sacrifice update page, the Soldier can be seen cooking maggots in the Frying Pan while the Scout, wearing Ellis' Hat, looks on. It appears the two classes are sitting in part of the map Viaduct.
- Even though the Frying Pan uses the hit sound effects from Left 4 Dead 2, when the Soldier taunts and hits the Pan on his head, the impact noise is the same as the Shovel.
- Though this item was given out as a promotion for Left 4 Dead 2, the frying pan itself is actually quite different looking from the frying pan in Left 4 Dead 2. In Left 4 Dead 2, the frying pan has slight points on the sides, and it has a looped handle.
