The Frying Pan is a melee weapon for the Soldier and Demoman classes. It appears as a slightly worn cast-iron skillet with a thin film of grease caked onto the bottom.
The Frying Pan simply replaces the Shovel or Bottle without altering gameplay mechanics, similarly to what the Lugermorph is to the Pistol or the Big Kill to the Revolver. Critical hit animations are identical to the default weapons, as are the taunts. Upon contact with a surface or player, it will play sounds identical to those used in Left 4 Dead 2.
This weapon was given to players who purchased Left 4 Dead 2 before October 7, 2010 as part of the Sacrifice DLC.[1] Players also received Ellis' Cap as a part of this promotion.[1]

Previous Changes
It was possible to craft this weapon using the "Fabricate Class Weapons" blueprint before the ability to do so was disabled.
Bugs
- Taunting with the Frying Pan will play the respective taunts of the Shovel and Bottle.
- There is a possibility to get the frying pan and ellis cap when getting left 4 dead 2 gifted to you.
Trivia
- On The Sacrifice update page, the Soldier can be seen cooking maggots in the Frying Pan while the Scout, wearing Ellis' Hat, looks on. It appears the two classes are sitting in part of the map Viaduct.
- Coincidentally, a custom skin from Day 3 of the unofficial Fancy vs. Nasty Update replaces the Equalizer with a frying pan. An updated version was later released that replaces the official frying pan model.[1].
