Now that is what I want to see!
The Soldier on proper rocket-to-foot measurements

The Rocket Jumper is a training primary weapon for the Soldier class which was released with the Mann-Conomy Update. Its appearance is identical to the Rocket Launcher.

As a training item, the Rocket Jumper fires completely harmless rockets allowing players to freely practice rocket jumping techniques. The ammo count is also tripled, giving the user forty extra rockets, though the Soldier's damage vulnerabilities are increased.

Note: The blueprint simply makes a Soldier's primary weapon, there is still a chance of getting the Direct Hit or Black Box instead. There will be a 33% chance of crafting this item.

Previous Changes

October 27, 2010 Patch

  • Added a 100 health penalty to the Rocket Jumper.

December 22, 2010 Patch

  • The Rocket Jumper now has no max health penalty, and has damage vulnerabilities instead.

Bugs

  • Before the December 17, 2010 patch, it was possible to survive the Kamikaze taunt of the Equalizer when this weapon was equiped; the player would only suffer fall damage after being launched into the air. This is similar to an early bug that existed when the Gunboats were first implemented.
  • Reflected rockets fired from the Rocket Jumper will deal damage to Pyros that attempt to make a rocket jump using the deflected rocket.
  • Pumpkin bombs set off by the Rocket Jumper do no damage to the wielder.
  • Due to how bullet vulnerability is calculated, certain non-bullet weapons deal 100% more damage to a Rocket Jumper wielder. This includes the Syringe Gun, all Melee weapons, the Targe Bash, and most Taunt attacks.
