Krampus is a community-created King of the Hill map added in the Smissmas 2023 update. It is set in a German town during a snowy night.

Krampus was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

Locations

The locations are described from RED's perspective from spawn to point, and are mirrored for BLU.

  • Spawn: the spawn room has two upper doors with one resupply cabinet and a lower door down the stairs in the back with another cabinet. The one closer to the windows is a drop onto the same side as the lower door.
  • Fountain: a small fountain to the right of the spawn.
  • Stone Building: a building with its first floor built with stone blocks that nearly goes from one side of the map to the other. Its interior is a narrow corridor with a flight of stairs and a drop, which can be climbed up with jumping techniques such as double and flare jumps. It has two doors on either side, with the higher one facing the point area leading to a bridge overseeing the next area.
  • Flank: the path around the small team-colored building adjacent to the Stone Building.
  • Alley: the area past the Stone Building. The left side is higher than the right side, and the flaming barrel can be used to set Huntsman and Fortified Compound arrows on fire. A medium health kit and ammo pack sit on the left side, and a small kit and pack on the right side on a small platform. While most classes need to enter the Stone Building in order to get onto the bridge, it can be reached with jumping techniques like double and flare jumps.
  • Left Path: the leftmost path to the control point area, leading to the team's Tables.
  • Arch: the central path to the control point area, passing by a stone arch.
  • Right Path: the rightmost path to the control point area.
  • Town Center: the center of the map, where the control point is located.
  • Control Point: the control point is on a bridge which is only walled on one of its sides. The water below is deep enough that players have to swim, but not deep enough that they can dive and drown, and holds a submerged medium ammo pack.
  • Clocktower: the building overseeing the control point. It has two entries on each side of the map (a front one facing the point area and a side one facing the spawn), a balcony split in two by arches, and a metal bridge below said balcony where a small ammo pack and health kit can be found.
  • Statue: a statue on a pedestal in the water that crosses the Town Center. A large health kit sits near it, close to the grate where the water falls into the lake.
  • Wooden Walls: wooden walls built on each side of the point. They each hide a medium health kit and ammo pack from the other team.
  • Tables: platforms with tables on them, with a path to the Alley and an ivy wall.
  • Underworld: defeating Krampus opens up a portal that sucks nearby players into the underworld; a dark forest with freezing temperature that slowly harms those in it. Players who reach the cabin on the other side and cross the portal are returned to the main map and receive 2 seconds of invulnerability, 12 seconds of guaranteed critical hits, and a 151 HP heal (which can be converted into overheal).

Krampus

Krampus roams the center of the map in search of players in the area. The player he decides to target receives a message in their text chat, informing them that they have been naughty this year. If they are within his melee range, he tries to whip them for 40% of their max health; if they are far away, he can shoot from 2 to 5 homing flaming coal projectiles. His projectiles can be reflected. Reflected projectiles retain their homing ability, homing back at Krampus and damaging him. He can also make it rain flaming coal across the area.

Krampus' area is limited to the open area around the control point, only being able to target and pursue players in it. Should his target leave the area, he picks a different player to go after. He cannot target players inside the building next to the point or pursue them into it either, though he can target (and reach) players in the balcony if they peek too much outside.

The control point also serves as Krampus' respawn point. He announces his return before reappearing, giving players time to distance themselves. When he respawns, he only pushes players, making it safe (thought not recommended) to stay on the point.

Trivia

  • There are two row boats in the Underworld's river, to the left of the bridge. On one is an unlit lantern, and on the other is a deer cutout.
  • There is a room outside of the map with some developer textures, a multicolored texture, the signature of one of the map's creators, the flame particle used for Krampus' projectiles, and four photos of cats.
    • The same signature can also be found on a wall outside the playable area to the left on the RED spawn, where a truck can be seen.
