Lava Pit publicity blurb

Lava Pit is a community-created Attack/Defend Control Point map included with the Scream Fortress XV update. It is set in a town with several pits and flowing rivers of lava running through it.

BLU must capture control points A and B before they can capture point C, the final point, though they can capture A and B in any order. Points A and B are directly accessible from the BLU base, while they must cross through one of them in order to reach point C. RED's base is located near point C.

The setup timer is 60 seconds.

Lava Pit was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

Locations

BLU spawn

  • BLU Spawn: Located in the upper left corner of the map, the BLU base is separated from the rest of the map by a tall cliff face. Connecting it to the rest of the map are two tunnels: one to control point A and the other one to control point B. Both of these tunnels are locked during setup time, restricting BLU to just their spawn and a small courtyard around it.

Point A: The Lava Tower

  • Point A: Control point A can be accessed by taking the left-most tunnel outside BLU spawn. The point is at the top of a hill, inside a tall wooden building called Gray Lava co. It contains several health pack and spellbook spawns. Underneath the point is a pit with a medium health pack on it; failing the jump results in death.
  • A-side Tunnel: The tunnel which connects BLU's spawn yard and the A battlefield. It starts out as a single tunnel, but eventually splits off into two separate exits. The exits of these tunnels form a ledge that is elevated above the rest of the terrain, requiring extra vertical mobility in order for players to get back inside the tunnel; they can also be entered by crouch-jumping onto the part of the wall jutting out next to the left entrance, then by crouch-jumping toward the left entrance while strafing right to barely land on the tunnel's ledge.
  • Ravine: The Ravine is the area between the two dirt paths which lead up to the Gray Lava co. It is a large pitfall with flowing lava at the bottom. Emerging from the Ravine are several tall cliffs that form islands among a sea of lava. Some of them have small houses on top.
  • Paths: On both sides of the area are stone paths which lead to the top of the area and the control point building.
  • Pit: A pit underneath point A, a correctly-timed jump allows a player to access a medium health pack.
  • A/C Connector: Another tunnel connects the areas of points A and C. Its entrance is located besides the Gray Lava co. building. The tunnel splits off into two parts, the right branch leads directly to the Clock Tower, while the left path flanks around the side.

Point B: The Lava Building

  • Point B: Control point B can be accessed from the right-most tunnel outside of BLU spawn. The point is in the large structure in the center of the area.
  • B-side Tunnel: Much like the A-side Tunnel, the tunnel connecting BLU spawn with the B battlefield starts out as a single entrance that then splits off into two more tunnels. Both tunnels sharply drop off at their end, requiring players to use increased vertical movement abilities to access the tunnels from the side of the control point.
    • Short B Tunnel: The smaller of the two tunnels. It leads to the left, exiting next to the A/B Connector in front of a small house.
    • Long B Tunnel: This branch leads to the right and exits out on the far side of the B area.
  • B Building: The B Building is the structure which houses the control point. It has three entrances; the main entrance on the far side of the area, near the Long B Tunnel, that is located atop a wide ramp. The other two entrances are located on the side facing Point C, atop two narrower ramps that require a small jump to access. There are also four windows, two on each side, which are all accessible. The roof can be stood on and has an opening in the middle directly above Point B.
  • Hellish Side: Next to the building, on the side opposite the B Tunnels is the Hellish Side. Found here is a ramp with a medium health pack and a small ammo pack.
  • Balcony: Directly outside the A/C Connector entrance is the Balcony. It is located on an elevated position, serving as a vantage point for most of the area around the B control point. There are two ramps on both sides which lead down to the ground level. Two ramps along the back wall give access to control point C.
  • A/B connector: Between the areas around control point A and B is the A/B Connector, which is another tunnel stretching from BLU's A Tunnel to the exits of the Short B Tunnel.
  • B/C Connector: Much like Point A, there exists a direct connection between Points B and C, located behind the Balcony.

Point C: The Clock Tower

  • Point C: Control point C is past the first two points, and adjacent to the RED base. The tunnels leading to the other control points are on a higher level than the ground in this area. The control point is located at the top of the central structure.
  • RED Spawn Base: Located directly behind control point C, on the opposite side of the area from the A/C and B/C Connectors. It has two exits on the sides.
  • Clock Tower: In the center of the area is the Clock Tower. There are three floors to the tower: The first is accessible from ground level by a ramp, and from two bridges connecting to the catwalks. The second floor is accessible by two sets of ramps of which lead along the outside of the tower and one through it. The third floor is the top which houses the control point and a small room behind the point open on three of its sides.
  • Catwalks: All along the outside edge of the area are the catwalks. These are the metal walkways which are accessible via four entrances, two from the A/C connector tunnels and two from the B/C connector tunnels. They are also accessible from two ramps outside the RED Spawn.
  • Ground Level: The entire Clock Tower is located on a rock island, which is surrounded by lava on all four sides. On the far side is an entrance which leads to the A/C Connector tunnels.

Hell

  • Entry Points: Scattered around the map are coffins that emit a bright white glow once they can be entered to go to Hell. They remain open for 25 seconds when available, and open approximately every 3 minutes.
  • Hell: Upon entering, the player is teleported to one side of Hell, depending on what team they are on. They are fully healed when they enter, but slowly take damage while in it and must make their way to the middle section to escape; a rare spell sits atop a rock in between the exit portals. If the player manages to leave, they are returned to their spawn with overheal, invincibility, a speed boost, and guaranteed Critical hits.
