Upon taunting with The Sandman equipped, the Scout will point to the sky (a homage to Babe Ruth's called shot) , wind up and let loose with an almighty BONK that launches anyone slow, unaware or simply unfortunate enough to be hit by it ridiculous distances. A successful hit will result in the cheers of an invisible crowd. Killing someone with the taunt unlocks Out of the Park achievement, provided the ragdoll flies a far-enough distance. The taunt can still be used offensively during Humiliation and Stalemate despite the Scout's hands being empty.

The Grand Slam, also known as Home Run, is a kill taunt that activates upon taunting with the Sandman or Atomizer equipped. The Scout points to the sky, winds up, and swings the bat, instantly killing any enemy too slow, unaware, or simply unfortunate enough to be in range.

The Bonk has a 5 second wind-up time, making it both the longest taunt in the game and the longest kill taunt, the Spy's Fencing taunt being the only other even close in length.

The Grand Slam is capable of casting a victim's ragdoll a considerable distance away. Although the entirety of the wind-up is silent, a sound effect of a crowd cheering plays upon a successful hit. The kill area of the taunt is relatively small, allowing enemies time to jump away from the taunt and avoid death.

As with most kill taunts, this taunt can also be used to kill enemy players during humiliation and stalemates.
* The taunt makes no sound until the swing, (along with a cheering crowd on a successful hit). If the enemy does not hear the Scout's approaching footsteps, they have no warning and will likely be killed. Originally the Scout used to say something while pointing, but this was quickly patched out.

* The Bonk taunt can be used in conjunction with Bonk! Atomic Punch if performed correctly. By drinking and then switching to the Sandman  you can taunt while invincible and effectively kill without taking any damage. The switch and taunt must be done instantaneously, or the radiation will wear off and cut off the taunt.

* The Bonk taunt kills when the Scout starts to come in for the swing, not when it comes into contact.

* The hit area is actually rather low compared to the animation- if the opponent is on higher ground, the bat may appear to pass through the enemy player leaving them unscathed. If the Scout is on higher ground, the taunt may hit even though the bat passes over the enemy's head.

* You can only get the Out of The Park achievement if the kill hits the ragdoll of the enemy 25 meters, making it the only taunt kill that does not give you the achievement for simply getting a kill with it.

Home-frickin'-run!
The Scout

The Grand Slam, also known as Home Run, is a kill taunt that activates upon taunting with the Sandman or Atomizer equipped. The Scout points to the sky, winds up, and swings the bat, instantly killing any enemy too slow, unaware, or simply unfortunate enough to be in range.

 • The range at which the taunt kills is 48 Hammer units, past which it has no effect. If multiple enemies are within this range, they all take damage.
 • The Grand Slam taunt deals bullet type damage, meaning that it can be countered by items like the Vaccinator and Fists of Steel.

As with most kill taunts, this taunt can also be used to kill enemy players during humiliation and stalemates.
