Attaaack!
The Soldier commanding a legion

The Legionaire's Lid is a scrapped community-created cosmetic item for the Soldier. It resembles the helmet of a Roman Legionaire, with a team-colored plumage.

The item's model, materials, textures, and backpack icon were all found in the GCF files, but have since been removed, and the item is currently unavailable in-game. A similarly themed helmet, the Defiant Spartan, may have been implemented as opposed to this hat. The Legionaire's Lid's name and description can still be found in the localization files.

Update history

September 30, 2010 Patch (Mann-Conomy Update)

  • [Undocumented] Materials for the Legionaire's Lid were added to the game.

Notes

  • Based on $blendtintbybasealpha and $colortint_tmp values in the item's material files, the item appears to be in the early stages of testing for what would eventually become the Paint Can tool.
    • This also explains the item's current state, as it is set to tint over its base texture almost completely with a flat white color.
