The Medic

The Medicating Melody results when taunting with the Amputator. It heals all allies within a certain radius from the Medic performing the taunt. This effect is displayed by a team-colored version of the Buff Banner/Battalion's Backup effect. The healing does not count toward the ÜberCharge percentage, does not overheal, and does not work on disguised or cloaked Spies. The healing effect requires line of sight and cannot heal teammates on the opposite side of a wall for example, even if they are within range of the Medic. Also, any teammate that kills an opposing player while under the effects of the healing taunt will give the Medic an assist.

Healing

The healing rate is linearly based upon how long ago the target was last damaged, similar to that of the Medi Gun and Kritzkrieg. If the target was damaged less than 10 seconds ago, then they are healed at a rate of 25 hp/sec. From 10 to 15 seconds, this rate increases linearly from 25 up to a maximum of 75 health per second.

The healing effect lasts for 4.2 seconds.

The healing effect range is a circle with a radius of approximately 450 hammer units, centered on the Medic.

Healing is approximate and determined by community testing.

Function Times

  • Taunt Interval: 4

All times are in seconds. Times are approximate and determined by community testing.

Bugs

  • There is a bug which makes the Medic invulnerable while taunting.
  • The taunt's healing effect can be applied to Equalizer-brandishing Soldiers.

Trivia

The taunt animation was first used by the Bonesaw, Übersaw (formerly), and Vita-Saw.
