Danke schön, danke schön...
The Medic

Upon taunting with the Amputator equipped, the Medic bring his weapon up to his shoulder and plays a soothing melody, healing all allies within a certain radius while causing them to emit a team-colored glow.

The taunt does not add to a Medic's ÜberCharge level, does not heal disguised or cloaked Spies, and does not overheal. The healing effect requires a line of sight to all targets, and therefore cannot heal teammates who for example may be on the opposite side of a wall. Teammates who kill opposing players will give the taunting Medic an assist in the kill.

Healing

Example of taunt healing range.

The healing rate is linearly based upon how long ago the target was last damaged, similar to that of the Medi Gun and Kritzkrieg. If the target was damaged less than 10 seconds ago, then they are healed at a rate of 25 hp/sec. From 10 to 15 seconds, this rate increases linearly from 25 up to a maximum of 75 health per second.

  • Length: 4.2 seconds
  • Range: 450 Hammer units (centered on Medic)

Healing is approximate and determined by community testing.

Function Times

  • Taunt Interval: 4

All times are in seconds. Times are approximate and determined by community testing.

Update History

January 3, 2011

  • Fixed an exploit[1] related to The Amputator.

Bugs

  • The taunt's healing effect can be applied to Equalizer-brandishing Soldiers.

References

  1. In mid taunt with the Amputator, the player could disconnect from the server, but the healing effect would remain for surrounding injured players, giving them infinitely regenerating health, even after death, until they disconnected or the map changed.
