“ | This new medigun uses its Übercharge not for invulnerability, but to give its recipient 100% chance to fire critical ordinance.

The Kritzkrieg (/'krɪtzkriːg/ kritz-kreeg) is an unlockable secondary weapon for the Medic. Similar in appearance to both the Medi Gun and Quick-Fix, it sports an additional fixture to the barrel with two glowing yellow lines on each side. The Kritzkrieg's beam has small yellow particles flowing into the recipient.
Functioning similarly to the Medi Gun, this weapon is capable of healing teammates and disguised Spies up to the 150% base health overheal limit. The gun features an ÜberCharge, however, that bestows a 100% critical hit chance rather than invulnerability. Additionally, the Kritzkrieg's ÜberCharge bar fills 25% percent faster than that of the Medi Gun.
Taunting with the Kritzkrieg equipped causes a Medic to perform the Oktoberfest special taunt.
The Kritzkrieg is automatically given to any player who obtains 16 Medic achievements.

Strange variant
A strange version of this weapon exists exclusively in the rare series 30 Salvaged Mann Co. Supply Crate. This weapon has 2 counters; one for kill assists, and one for ÜberCharges. The Strange Kritzkrieg's ÜberCharges do not count towards this weapon's rank; they instead add to a separate, purely aesthetic ÜberCharges sub-counter. The weapon's rank only progresses through the kill assist counter. This is the exact opposite of the Strange Medi Gun, which ranks up on number of ÜberCharges, with a sub-counter for kill assists.

Bugs
- On the loadout screen, the Medic's model may sometimes still appear to be holding the Medi Gun even when the Kritzkrieg is equipped.
- When the 'Medi Gun heals without holding primary fire' option is active, the Kritzkrieg will continue to heal if the Medic taunts.
- There are also issues with the Kritzkrieg particle effects not appearing, or continuing to appear, when the healing target is no longer alive.
- Taunting with the Kritzkrieg sometimes may not render the healing effects that the Medic inhales.
Trivia
- The name "Kritzkrieg" is a pun on the term "crits", short for critical hits, and "Template:W", German for "lightning war" – a technique used by the German army in World War II.
- Before the Kritzkrieg was released, Valve stated in interviews that they were going to add the Overhealer, which could permanently overheal teammates to 200% of their standard health, but it would have a significantly worsened ÜberCharge or be unable to ÜberCharge at all. This idea was later canceled after play testing, however, the model for the Kritzkrieg attachment still bears the filename
