Drink it in pal! That's how failure tastes!
The Scout while serving this non-protein filled drink

The Mad Milk is a secondary weapon for the Scout class. It appears as a nondescript bottle of milk with no cap.

Functioning similarly to Jarate and unlike previous Scout drinks, this weapon can be thrown by the player at enemies. Once a target is covered in milk, 75% of the damage done to them is returned as health to any team member who damages the milk-covered enemy. This does not apply to Engineers whose Sentry Gun damages the enemy. Mad Milk has the added benefits of extinguishing teammates on fire, and shorting out Cloaking devices. Traversing into water or having an ÜberCharge activated on the victim(s) will not wash off the liquid.

Players under the effects of Mad Milk will not have blurred vision, but will have a white droplet icon next to their health meter on the HUD, similar to that of the bleed effect.

A thrown Mad Milk can be reflected by an enemy Pyro.

Damage

None. However if an enemy is covered in Mad Milk when you do damage to them, you will be healed a percentage (75%) of that damage.

Function times

  • Mad Milk Recharge: 20 seconds.
  • Mad Milk 'Effects' Duration: 6 seconds, as an approximation.

All times are in seconds, and determined by community testing.

Bugs

  • Spies under the effect of Mad Milk can exclaim a Jarate line.
  • The Sniper achievement Jarring Transitions and Number One Assistant can be earned with the Mad Milk.

Trivia

  • Unlike Jarate, Mad Milk appears to be jiggleboned. The non-milk substance inside sloshes around with the Scout's movement.
  • Following the trend of highly dangerous drinks, like the Bonk! Atomic Punch and Crit-a-Cola, the Mad Milk supposedly came from cows infused with "sweet wholesome thermonuclear radiation".
  • With the addition of Mad Milk and the Mann-Conomy update, the only classes not capable of directly healing themselves are the Spy and Sniper.
  • Throwing Mad Milk on someone who is already under the effects of Jarate cancels out the visual effect of the Jarate but keeps the effects of both, and vice versa.
  • The weapon's development name was Mann Milk, a reference to Mann Co. [1]
  • Spies who backstab someone covered in Mad Milk will be healed up to 4.5 times the victim's health.
  • It is possible to get a "Critical" Mad Milk, but the effect is only cosmetic, similar to Jarate.
  • A player under the effects of bonk! and covered in Mad Milk will still give you health if you hit them, but they will be immune to the damage.
  • It was originally designed as a drinkable item, like Bonk! Atomic Punch and Crit-a-Cola. When first tested it was used as a reskin for Bonk! Atomic Punch. Hence the description revolving around taste on Spetch's Special delivery poster. It is most likely the Valve changed it to be a projectile similar to Jarate to avoid having too many lunchbox items.
