Imagine if I hadn't been drunk!
The Demoman on turn control

The Tide Turner is a community-created secondary weapon for the Demoman. It is a worn-down ship steering wheel with various pieces broken off.

It functions similarly to the Chargin' Targe; however, it also gives full turning control while charging, and any kills obtained with melee weapons will instantly replenish 75% of the charge meter. However, being damaged while charging reduces the remaining charge time on a one-to-one basis; for example, taking 42 damage will subtract 42% from the remaining charge meter. Note that using the Claidheamh Mòr does not change how much charge is deducted. Being damaged in the precise moment a charge is initiated will fully drain the charge meter, regardless of how much damage was dealt. Like the Demoman's other shields, it provides passive resistances to both fire and explosive damage, 15% each in this case. The Tide Turner was contributed to the Steam Workshop under the name "The Wheel of Misfortune".

Damage

See also: Damage

Alternate fire initiates a charge attack, which deals damage on its own, or may be used in conjunction with another weapon.

  • Charge Damage: 50 melee damage (if shield connects with enemy at the end of the charge - 0 otherwise) + 10 per head (up to 5 heads).
  • Mini-crit charge damage: 68 (if shield connects with enemy at the end of the charge - 0 otherwise) + 13 per head (up to 5 heads).
    • The shield damage is affected by weapon damage spread, it is not a constant number.
  • Charge Speed

Function times

  • Charge Interval: 12 seconds
    • Charge Interval: 6 seconds with the Persian Persuader equipped
    • Charge Interval: 3 seconds when a melee kill is made during the charge
    • Charge Interval: 1.5 seconds with the Persian Persuader equipped and a melee kill is made during the charge
    • Charge Interval: 0 seconds when a melee kill with the Claidheamh Mòr is made during the charge
    • Charge Interval: 0 seconds when a melee kill is made while the Ali Baba's Wee Booties or Bootlegger is equipped

Times are approximate and determined by community testing.
