Hold still, Schweinhunds, zis will only sting for a moment.
The Medic on long-range injections

The Crusader's Crossbow is a primary weapon for the Medic, replacing the Syringe Gun. It appears as a crossbow with a metal barrel attached to a canister with the Medic's cross emblem on it. Similarly to the Huntsman, this weapon can shoot an arrow that travels in a slight arc with a team-colored trail behind it. Unlike the Huntsman however, it requires no charging up (though it is slow to reload) and can shoot arrows into both teammates and enemies (respectively healing or hurting the target). Damage healed/inflicted increases with distance, rather than decreases. Talented Pyros can reflect the arrow back at the Medic, or into teammates to give them a health boost. Disguised Spies will be damaged by the arrows and will not be healed like real teammates.

This item is part of the Medieval Medic set and is one of the ranged weapons that is allowed in the Medieval gameplay mode.

Bugs

  • The Crossbow cannot heal at point-blank range. The Medic must step back a little bit in order to heal, otherwise the bolts will simply pass right through teammates.
  • Bolts impacting teammates will lodge in their body and display blood around the point of penetration.
  • From a third-person view, the crossbow bolt appears to fire from the Medic's face.
  • From the first-person view, the bolt appears to fire from behind the gun.
  • When a round restarts the crossbow's ammo may not be reset.
  • It is possible to heal Soldiers with their Equalizer drawn.
  • The Pyro's Back Scratcher does not reduce the amount of health received by the crossbow.
  • The Crossbow cannot heal ÜberCharged players. When attempting to, the bolt will simply break on contact with the player.
  • The Crossbow model is missing all its surface normals, giving it a blobby appearance.
  • The Crusader's Crossbow can heal invisible Spies.

Trivia
