The Conniver's Kunai is a melee weapon for the Spy. It is based off the Japanese ninja Template:W, originally used as a farming tool.

Equipping this weapon reduces the max health of the user by 65, thereby lowering the Spy's overall health to a total of 60. Upon a successful backstab, the victim's health is added to the user's own health in the form of an overheal, capping out at a maximum of 180. This functions similarly to a standard overheal, degenerating over time.

The Conniver's Kunai was released with the Shogun Pack, awarded in Genuine quality to players who preordered Total War: SHOGUN 2 on Steam before March 15, 2011. It is also available through crafting, item drops, or purchase from the Mann Co. Store.

Taunting with the Conniver's Kunai equipped allows the Spy to perform a deadly Fencing maneuver.

Spymaster Backstab 1000 enemies. The Man from P.U.N.C.T.U.R.E. Stab an enemy while fencing. The Man with the Broken Guns Backstab an Engineer, then sap 3 of his buildings within 10 seconds. Triplecrossed Backstab 3 Snipers in a single life. Wetwork Stab an enemy to death while under the influence of Jarate. You Only Shiv Thrice Backstab 3 enemies within 10 seconds.

Bugs

• The Kunai clips through the Spy's sleeve in first person view.
• When wielding the Kunai, the Spy will not say any of his domination/response lines, similar to the Your Eternal Reward.

Trivia

• This weapon will end afterburn and bleed effects when successfully backstabbing a victim.
• A conniver is a person who manipulates or secretly conspires with others, usually to advance their own agenda.
• This weapon adopts the stylized appearance of kunai often portrayed in anime and manga.
  • In such portrayals, kunai are usually represented as throwing daggers. However, the Conniver's Kunai is more in line with traditional kunai, which were not thrown but wielded as a tool, or in some cases, as a weapon.
