The Kritzkrieg is an unlockable secondary weapon for the Medic. Similar in appearance to the Medi Gun, it sports an additional fixture to the barrel with three glowing yellow lines on each side. The Kritzkrieg's beam has small yellow particles flowing into the recipient.
Functioning similarly to the Medi Gun, this weapon heals teammates and disguised Spies up to the 150% base health overheal limit. The ÜberCharge deployed, however, bestows a 100% critical hit chance, rather than invulnerability. The Kritzkrieg's ÜberCharge bar is also filled 25% percent faster than the Medi Gun's.
The healing beam will stay locked onto its target as long as the wielding Medic keeps the attack button held down and keeps within range of the target. This allows the Medic to turn around and effectively keep an eye out for incoming enemies from behind, and even heal allies from around corners. When a player has been overhealed, a team-colored "aura" follows them, similar to a Teleporter trail.
In advanced options, there is an option to have the beam stay locked on without having to hold down the fire button.
Taunting with the Kritzkrieg equipped causes the Medic to perform the Oktoberfest special taunt.
The Kritzkrieg is automatically given to any player who obtains 16 Medic achievements.

Bugs
- Even though the Kritzkrieg does not grant any invulnerability during its ÜberCharge, the ÜberCharge cannot be deployed while carrying the Intelligence, though it can, however, still be acquired by a player currently under the effects of the ÜberCharge.
- On the loadout screen, the Medic's model will still appear to be holding a Medi Gun even when the Kritzkrieg is equipped.
- When the 'Medi Gun heals without holding primary fire' option is active, the Kritzkrieg will continue to heal if the Medic taunts.
- There are also issues with the Kritzkrieg particle effects not appearing, or continuing to appear, when the healing target is no longer alive.
- Both the textures and model of the weapon are of low resolution and quality in first person view.
- Taunting with the Kritzkrieg sometimes may not render the healing effects that the Medic inhales.
Trivia
- The name "Kritzkrieg" is a pun on the term "crits", short for critical hits, and "Template:W", German for "lightning war", a technique used by the German army in both World Wars, used unsuccessfully and successfully respectively.
- Before the Kritzkrieg was released, Valve stated in interviews that they were going to add an Overhealer that could permanently overheal teammates to 200% of their standard health, but it would have a significantly worsened ÜberCharge, or be unable to ÜberCharge at all. This was canceled after playtesting; however, the model for the Kritzkrieg attachment still bears the filename
Overhealer
